~JZ Says~

This was the final push before Death Before Dishonor, and they did a good job hyping up that show. The opener was very enjoyable, as are most things involving Bandido. Jay and Mark got ready for their upcoming PPV match with the OGK by defeating Horus with the Doomsday Device. I did find it a little strange that the ROH World Champion was on the losing team, even if he himself didn’t take the fall. Were there no other teams the Briscoes could’ve defeated instead?

Josh Woods, the number one contender for Jonathan Gresham’s Pure Title, had a warmup match of sorts against Will Ferrara in a Pure Rules match. This was an effective showcase for Woods, and a very good use of Ferrara, who is technically solid if unspectacular. Woods got the win in a fairly short match with the Chaos Theory, one of my favorite moves ever.

Since the ROH World Tag Team Titles are not going to be defended on the pay-per-view, they were defended in the main event of the go-home show. That’s a great compromise, and I appreciate the way ROH handles their championships. Dickinson and Homicide really don’t do much for me as a team, so when Lee pinned Dickinson after an Incinerator and reclaimed the titles for LFI, I was pretty stoked. Homicide looks like he just can’t hang anymore. I was also a little surprised to see VU lose them so quickly, but more titles on Dragon Lee is never a bad thing. In fact, he has a chance to hold three titles at once if LFI can defeat Shane Taylor Promotions at Death Before Dishonor.

The show closed with a rundown of the Death Before Dishonor card, which looks very good on paper. Here’s what they have lined up:

  • Eli Isom vs. Dalton Castle
  • Jake Atlas vs. Taylor Rust
  • The OGK vs. The Briscoes
  • Josh Woods vs. Jonathan Gresham for the ROH Pure Championship
  • LFI vs. Shane Taylor Promotions for the ROH World Six-Man Championship
  • Rok-C vs. Miranda Alize for the ROH Women’s Championship
  • Bandido vs. Brody King vs. Demonic Flamita vs. EC3 for the ROH World Championship
